The
Number 40
Its
Significance to the Catholic Church
Preface
The number 40 has much significance in the Catholic Church. It can
be seen numerous times in scripture. God, in His eternal plan, used
the number 40 for many of the important events we read about in the Bible.
The number 40 also has great significance in showing how the election of
Pope Pius XIII was indeed Gods plan.
-
For 40 days, Moses remained close to God to receive His law on tablets
of stone.
-
For 40 years, the Jewish people wandered in the desert before entering
into the kingdom promised by God. During that time all but two died. Therefore
a clean people (a non idol-worshiping people) entered the holy land.
-
Our Lord, after being baptized by St. John the Baptist, went into the desert
for 40 days. After 40 days of fasting, He was tempted by Satan.
-
The Church has established Lent to be a penitential season of 40 days.
-
Our Lord's body and soul were separated in death for 40 hours, and then
He arose from the tomb. During Holy Week, the Church practices the
40 Hours Devotion in memory of this time that Our Lord slept in death.
-
In the second half of the 20th century, Catholics were wandering for 40
years in the wilderness with no pope to guide them. The papacy was
restored on October 24th 1998 with the election of Pope Pius XIII.
During that period of 40 years of sede-vacante, all the Cardinals created
by Pope Pius XII died. Therefore, a non-tainted group of electors elected
Pope Pius XIII.
Nota Bene:
It is a firm policy in a forbidden/secret society that once a person
from that society gets an office, the society makes sure that the seat
is never lost from their control. (Consider the Novus Ordo church.
Consider the Freemasons). The papal election on October 24, 1998
showed how that spell was broken.
Amazing Coincidence or God's Eternal Plan?
-
The last true pope, Pope Pius XII died on October 9, 1958. So it was exactly
40 years to the month from the death of Pius XII to the election of his
successor, Pope Pius XIII on Oct. 24, 1998.
-
The first of a series of false popes, John XXIII, started masquerading
as pope on October 28, 1958. So it was exactly 40 years to the week
from that infamous event to the election of the true Vicar of Christ, Pope
Pius XIII.
One with true faith will see that the almighty Hand of God was directing
the process. Once again God used the number 40 according to
His plan which existed from all eternity!
